Corrections

When we get something wrong, we say so on the record.

What triggers a correction

• A cited source has been retracted by its publisher.
• A primary fact in a rating is shown to be inaccurate by the rated party or a third party with verifiable evidence.
• A claim has been overtaken by events (e.g. the rated party has materially changed the practice we cited).

How we issue corrections

Corrections are appended to the original rating page in a dated notice at the top of the page. We do not silently edit ratings. If a correction is substantial enough to change the beacon state, we issue a new rating, link both versions, and note the correction in the new rating's Grade Card.

How to request a correction

Email corrections at hectec dot org with the rating URL, the specific claim you believe is in error, and verifiable evidence. We acknowledge within five business days.
